Braided leather reins handmade in our saddlery workshop in Brno, Czech Republic. Built for English riding and disciplines like hunter in hand – anywhere clean looks and a reliable grip matter. The braiding runs the full length of the rein and gives noticeably better grip compared to plain flat leather, especially in wet conditions or with a more active horse.
The braid is made from the same vegetable-tanned leather as the rein itself. The whole piece ages as one – color, texture and patina develop evenly over time.

FAQ:
Q: Are these suitable for show riding?
A: Yes. The braided style is a traditional choice for hunter in hand and other English show disciplines.
Q: How do the hook billets work?
A: Hook billets are the standard attachment used on most English bridles. The metal hook slots into the bit ring – no stitching or loops involved. If your bridle has standard English billet slots, these reins will fit.
Q: Will the braid loosen or unravel over time?
A: No. The braid is laced through the rein body, not just wrapped around it. It stays tight with normal use and regular leather care.
Q: How do I care for these reins?
A: Clean with a damp cloth and condition with a quality leather conditioner or saddle soap. Vegetable-tanned leather responds well to regular care and improves with use.
Measurement note:
Please select both length and color before placing your order. If you are unsure which length suits you, standard (155 cm / 61") works for most horses and riders. Contact us before ordering if you have questions.
