The internal frame is manufactured inhouse and gives the surcingle real rigidity. The handles do not flex or feel unstable – this matters when the rider needs reliable support during longer sessions or active exercise.
The handle shape was developed together with a real therapist. Instead of a simple U-shape, they follow a more rectangular form with rounded corners – more comfortable to grip and less tiring for the hands during extended use.
The pads are sewn on for greater firmness and long-term reliability. The surcingle is strong enough for normal-weight adults, not just children.
Sizes:
– Cob: large ponies and medium horses – Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, Haflinger, and similar
– Full: larger horses and heavy horses up to draft horse size
Handle grip:
– Standard: suitable for most users, school-age children to adults
– Slim: for very small children's hands, roughly preschool age up to 5–6 years
FAQ:
Q: Are the handles strong enough for firm pulling and climbing?
A: Yes. We have tested this in real use – an adult wheelchair user can grab the handles, pull themselves up, and mount the horse independently. The frame holds.
Q: What girth do I need?
A: Any standard English-style girth with 1" (2.5 cm) buckles works. This is the most common type found in any stable.
Q: What if my horse is between Cob and Full?
A: Go by the other horses you plan to use the surcingle with. The difference between Cob and Full is not dramatic – either size will work reasonably well for a borderline horse.
Q: Why sewn-on pads and not hook-and-loop?
A: Sewn-on pads are firmer, more stable, and hold up better in long-term professional use.
Q: What else can it be used for?
A: Beginner riding lessons, introducing young or green horses to double longe work, longe work in general, preparing beginners and small children for vaulting. The range of practical uses is broad.
